With Easter just around the corner, there are chocolate eggs just about everywhere you look - but Subway may have taken things a step too far with its new egg-streme creation.
No, it's not a belated April Fools joke - the fast food giant really has introduced a Cadbury Creme Egg sandwich. Dubbed the SubMelt, the six-inch sub is filled with melted milk chocolate and gooey fondant between Subway's signature toasted bread.
The sandwich will be available for one day only on Friday, April 7, when it will be given away to customers for free. Unfortunately - well, unfortunately may be too strong a word - you may have to travel if you're desperate to get your hands on one, as the chocolate sub will only be available at branches in London, Liverpool, Swansea and Glasgow.

Rusty Warren, senior NPD and product innovation manager at Subway, said: "We're delighted to have collaborated with Cadbury this Easter. Our Italian White Bread and Cadbury Creme Eggs make the most flavoursome combination - a perfect seasonal treat! All the team at Subway are especially excited to see how those Subway fans with a sweet tooth respond to this delicious SubMelt."
Charlotte Docker, Brand Executive for Cadbury Creme Egg, said: "When Subway approached us to create this eggs-traordinary Submelt, we simply couldn’t resist! The highly-anticipated Creme Egg season is in full swing and we're so excited to launch this innovative product with Subway as a final hoorah of the season. We can't wait for the response of those lucky enough to try this surprisingly delicious merging of sweet and savoury."
Subway isn't the only big brand jumping on the novelty Easter bandwagon this week. Deliveroo announced that it is releasing the Southern Fried Choc'n - a chocolate egg complete with a crispy fried chicken-inspired coating. The egg will be available to order for £3.99 from Thursday, April 6, via the Deliveroo app in London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.
