Let’s face it, we motorcyclists are a vain and image-conscious bunch. Well, most of us are, at least. As such, we want our gear to match our bikes as much as possible. Indeed, the motorcycle gear and apparel industry is equal parts protection and fashion. Manufacturers are constantly innovating to blur the lines between moto-specific gear and regular, day-to-day clothing.
This is especially prevalent in the retro gear segment. Occupied by the likes of Helstons, Ixon, Stylmartin, and many others, gear offerings in this segment look perfectly suited for casual attire while exuding a rugged aesthetic that works really well with both modern and classic bikes. Of course, protection is always top of mind when it comes to these manufacturers. Garments of all types, ranging from jackets, gloves, pants, and boots, are all available in classy, retro styles, the latest of which is the Rocket leather boot from Stylmartin.
The Italian shoemaker has been in the motorcycle game for some time now, and it’s products are among the favorites of the retro crowd. The Rocket takes the form of a high-cut boot with military-inspired styling—perfect for keeping you safe on the bike, as well as a fashion piece for when you’re walking on the street. The Rocket is constructed out of a full-grain leather and equipped with a waterproof membrane. This means it’ll keep your feet nice and warm throughout the colder months, too.
Stylmartin has integrated CE-certified malleolus protectors, as well as reinforcements on injury-prone areas of the foot in the event of a crash. Specifically, we find protectors on the heel and toe areas, as well as a sturdy, rigid sole. Given the fact that the Rocket employs a high-cut design, protection is extended until the tibia. Overall, the boots garner a PPE certification in accordance with the EN 13634:2017 standard.
Additional features include the aforementioned waterproof lining, as well as a thick Roccia non-slip rubber outsole to provide you with a confident perch no matter where your ride takes you. For a snug fit, the Rocket gets a triple-closure system consisting of laces, an inner zipper, and a strap on the top of the boot. It’s available either in black or brown, and goes really nicely with all sorts of neo-retro machines such as café-racers, scramblers, and even some ADV machines. Available in sizes ranging from 39 to 47, the Stylmartin Rocket retails for a reasonable 249 Euros, or the equivalent of $281 USD.
