Plans have been made public to create a new rooftop food and drink bar along Bristol harbourside. Building 11 in the city centre has been earmarked for the project, in the south east corner facing Canons Way and Explore Lane.
London-based investors Canada Life Asset Management is launching a consultation on the plans that would see the installation of a mezzanine floor giving access to the new rooftop venue with stretching views of the harbourside across Millennium Square and the Lloyds Building.
The existing outdoor area on top of the building would also be redesigned to create an accessible roof terrace and garden. Building 11 is occupied by a number of leisure companies, including Rainbow Casino, which currently functions over two floors but hopes to downsize the operation while remaining in its existing location.

A spokesperson for Canada Life Asset Management said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to convert the redundant area on top of Building 11, into a stylish new rooftop food and drink venue with spectacular views over Bristol’s harbourside. We look forward to sharing our plans and hearing the views of those who live and work in the area.”
The consultation material is now available online with details of the proposal and an opportunity for the public to have their say on the proposals. Canada Life Asset Management will also be hosting a face-to-face event on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 4–7pm at the Millennium Bar on the ground floor of Rainbow Casino, Explore Lane for members of the public and stakeholders to drop-in to view an exhibition of the proposals and speak to the design and planning team.
Feedback from the consultation and other key stakeholders will be considered by the project team as they finalise the scheme and prepare a planning submission in the new year.
