Style icon Kate Middleton's three fashion hacks that are 'incredibly flattering'

A style expert has explained how fans of the Duchess of Cambridge can 'steal her style' by following three simple rules. Over the last decade or so, Kate has become a British style icon for many, and is always thought to look put-together, with many people trying to copy her style.

In order to look both professional and stylish, Kate employs a few fashion hacks to maintain her title as a fashion icon. Miranda Holder, a fashion expert, told The Express that style obsessives can steal the Duchess' style by applying three rules to their outfits of choice.

Miranda told the publication: "There is so much we can learn from the Duchess of Cambridge when it comes to style. Kate has lived life in the public eye and we have seen her transform from the aspirational, but still accessible young woman to the royal Princess and fashion icon she has become."

If you're looking to channel the Duchess of Cambridge when deciding what to wear, the first thing you have to do is 'adopt a style uniform', according to Miranda. A style uniform, which the expert describes as 'a very useful wardrobe weapon', is a specific set of clothes or a particular style which you wear consistently.

Miranda explained: "It really takes the guesswork out of getting dressed in the mornings. It can take a bit of work to establish just what your uniform needs to be but once done you can concentrate on other decisions rather than 'What should I wear today?.

"It's a great way to build a personal brand and ensures you will always be comfortable and stylish."

According to Miranda, another way one can recreate the Duchess of Cambridge's style is by always wearing monochrome. Although the term 'monochrome' is usually applied to black and white looks, it can also be used to describe dressing 'in the same shade from head to toe'.

Miranda explained that dressing in monochrome is "an incredibly flattering look, as the single colour elongates your silhouette making you look taller and slimmer,

"This look will look fabulous on everyone - just make sure you know your colours and have selected one of your best shapes. Monochrome can look very chic and expensive, it also makes accessorising far easier."

The third and final way one can channel the Duchess of Cambridge is by wearing nude court shoes, Miranda says. These shoes will go with practically anything, regardless of colour, pattern, or print.

Miranda explained why these shoes in particular are so flattering. She said: "The pointed toe of the court, together with the nude colour, has a flattering leg-lengthening effect.

"It also leaves you plenty of leeway to have fun with other accessories. You won't have to worry about matching your shoes."
