Stunning Scottish 'mini-castle' with huge rooms and summer house goes on sale

A stunning house designed in the style of a traditional Scottish fortified keep has just gone on the market in Fife. Pirwindy Keep, located close to the village of Lower Largo, has a unique design that makes it stand out.

The six-bedroom country house lies in the desirable East Neuk of Fife, just 10 miles from St Andrews and comes with just over 1.5 acres of picturesque gardens. The characterful build is described as a "truly remarkable and unique family home".

Built in 1998, the incredible property rises about the surrounding woodland like a mini-castle and also comes with a four room summerhouse which is described as a "wonderful space for hosting parties and barbecues".

Harry Maitland of estate agents Savills, which is in charge of the sale, said: "Pirwindy Keep is a country house of outstanding quality. The house is set in a picturesque haven of gardens and grounds with the Keils Burn running through them. Its close proximity to the East Neuk coastline and St Andrews is also hugely appealing."

The 'mini-castle' was built with natural stone to the exterior with a concrete block membrane and inner timber frame giving it the true traditional feel you'd expect. It's been put on the market for offers over £1.95m.

The interior has six bedrooms, three bathrooms and three reception rooms, with the kitchen having an AGA built into the exposed stone wall typical to that of a traditional Scottish country home.

The larger family room is also a home cinema, being fitted with an Optoma projector and screen. It has doors out to the side of the house, while the downstairs bathroom was recently upgraded to include a Victory Jacuzzi bath.

The spectacular gardens are flanked by the Keils Burn and stunning woodland, while the popular beachfront village of Elie is only 7.5 miles away and is a vibrant hub of activity, particularly in the summer months.

There is also an array of fine dining restaurants locally including Michelin starred The Peat Inn (3.5 miles) and The Cellar Restaurant in Anstruther.
