THICK fog didn’t ruin a couple’s wedding day as their photographer skillfully captured the incredible moment of them “above the clouds” in Skye.
The series of pictures capture the stunning moment between Sam and Scott, who travelled all the way from New York to the Isle of Skye, with their family and some close friends for their big day.
The low-lying fog didn’t put the pair off from making the most of their wedding day on Saturday, September 7, as they climbed the iconic Quiraing in their wedding outfits to capture the magical moment.
According to Steph Prince, the wedding photographer from Oli and Steph Photography, the fog was so thick she could barely see her own hands.
Prince suggested to the couple that they hiked a “few” hundred meters uphill to capture something truly special.
She said: “We've been photographing elopements full-time on Skye for over three years, and this is the first time we've ever seen a cloud inversion with a couple.
“When we arrived at the Quiraing at sunrise, we could barely see our hands in front of our faces as the fog was so thick. Sam and Scott had travelled all the way from New York for their wedding photographs, so we were determined to get them the images they dreamed of.
“Luckily, they trusted us that we just needed to go up the mountain, and by hiking a few hundred meters uphill, which is challenging in a wedding dress, we emerged above the clouds to this magnificent scene.
“It absolutely took our breath away, and we spent a few hours above the clouds with the world at Sam and Scott's feet, getting them truly unique images.”
The phenomenon of the low-lying fog which made the couple look like they were “above the clouds” is called cloud inversion.
It occurs when the temperature is colder near the ground than when it is higher up in the air and it can cause clouds or fog to form and hang in valleys or over the sea.
