Stunning light and sound experience pops up in north Dublin park

The National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin is now home to a large scale sound and light experience that families are sure to be eager to visit.

Remnant Ecologies is a 1.3km night-time adventure by Welsh artist Jony Easterby which opened on Wednesday, September 21 and will run until Sunday, September 25 as part of Dublin Fringe Festival.

The experience aims to give visitors to the park exclusive access after dark to enjoy something truly different and is expected to attract over 4,500 people to the iconic Dublin gardens.

The Remnant Ecologies light and sound art installation is inspired by society’s evolving and complicated relationship with the natural world, with these intimate artworks exploring the cultural remnants humans have created through their love of nature.

Iain Quick, Head of the Welsh Government Office in Ireland said of the new experience: "We are proud to support this Dublin Fringe Festival first as we collaborate with organisers and partners to bring the work of this incredible Welsh artist Jony Easterby to this year’s festival programme.

"The light and sound installation is visual splendour as Easterby interprets the intricacies of the human relationship with nature.

"Support and love for the arts is something that binds the Irish and Welsh nations, often through our shared cultural heritage. This exhibition is yet another example of some of the many artistic collaborations between the two countries"

Meanwhile Ruth McGowan, Artistic Director & CEO Dublin Fringe said: "We are thrilled to be working with fantastic partners in National Botanic Gardens, axis: Ballymun and the Welsh Government Office in Ireland to showcase the work of extraordinary Welsh artist Jony Easterby in Dublin for the first time.

"This project offers audiences of all ages the opportunity to experience the city’s National Botanic Gardens as they have never seen them before."

Tickets for the experience can be purchased through the Dublin Fringe Festival website.

It is open every evening from 8pm until 10.30 and tickets start at €12, with tickets for groups of four available for €40. Children under the age of 2 go for free.
