A beautiful farm shop near Bristol has been named one of the best in the country. Flourish at Glenavon Fam on Bath Road, Saltford, was one of seven businesses shortlisted in the south west category at the Farm Shop and Deli Retailer Awards 2023.
Flourish was first opened in 2020 by Paul Hargreaves and Paul Castle, who had an idea of a positive-impact, planet-friendly restaurant and food retail destination. The pair teamed up with Adam Stratton, owner of Glenavon Farm, to transform unused dairy buildings into a unique farm shop for locals and passers-by.
The farm shop, which is just half an hour's drive from Bristol, sells locally produced meats, speciality cheeses, vegetarian deli products, freshly baked bread, patisserie and pantry items. The food hall arm of Flourish has a vibrant menu devised by head chef Rosa Scott serving brunch, salads, lunch and pizzas all made with the freshest ingredients.

Speaking on the nomination, Paul Castle, director of Flourish, said: “We are enormously proud to have been nominated as a finalist for the Farm Shop and Deli awards 2023. Putting people and planet before profits is at the heart of how we operate at Flourish, it is great that the awards are recognising and celebrating this.
"Having been open only 20 months we are extremely proud of what we have achieved so far, having won the FRA rising star award in 2021 and also making it to the finals of the MTJ Best New Butchery award 2023 is testament to the amazing team working here at Flourish.”
The farm shop also has a strong commitment to sustainability, using solar-powered energy where possible, harvesting rain water and offering refills, charging points and cycling incentives.
