It looks like a scene from mainland Europe, a picturesque white-walled village perched on a tiny island in a lake. However, this Dutch Village is actually found in a Scottish country park in Fife.
Now, stunning drone pics show the village, which was built in the 1920s at Craigtoun Country Park, near St Andrews, by acclaimed architect Paul W Whitehouse, which locals hope to restore to its former glory as part of a new project.
The beautiful village with its conical tiled roofs and continental style architecture holds special memories for generations of locals who remember visiting it as children - but over the years the ornate buildings fell into disrepair.
As recently as 2012, the park itself came under threat of closure and it was only thanks to local community group Friends of Craigtoun Park, who took over management of the park, that it was able to stay open.
They are now hoping to carry out major refurbishments to bring the Dutch Village back to life.
In 2018 the boathouse underwent a £120,000 facelift but it is understood the cost of full restoration of the buildings will run into seven figures.
