The Miami Dolphins were handed their first loss of the season on Sunday, as they were beaten 48-20 at Highmark Stadium.
Miami had looked like the best team in the league in the first three weeks, but Buffalo was able to get pressure on Tua Tagovailoa and move the ball all over the field through the air on offense.
With this loss, the Dolphins will fall down to 3-1, and they’ll be in second place in the division.
As we do after every game, let’s take a look at some of those who deserve credit and some who deserve blame for their performances against the Bills.
STUD: LB Andrew Van Ginkel
Without Jaelan Phillips, Van Ginkel was, once again, asked to step into a larger role and he rewarded the coaches for the decision. He recorded three tackles for a loss and two sacks.
Unfortunately, his effort wasn’t enough to slow down Josh Allen and company.
DUD: CB Kader Kohou
The second-year cornerback was handed the tough task of covering one of the best wide receivers in the game in Stefon Diggs. He was constantly beaten, resulting in a number of big plays or penalties as well as three touchdowns.
Miami’s secondary is being tested without Jalen Ramsey, and they failed that test.
STUD: RB De'Von Achane
Not much was going right for the Dolphins in this contest, but the rookie from Texas A&M continued to show that he needs touches this year.
Achane rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 12.6 yards per attempt, and he also brought in three receptions for 19 yards in the passing game.
It’s tough to see Jeff Wilson Jr. or Salvon Ahmed taking snaps from Achane when they’re both fully healthy.
DUD: OL Liam Eichenberg
Without Connor Williams, Eichenberg was thrust into the starting center role, and he was a liability. He had multiple low snaps that affected the timing of plays and was called for a penalty that took a touchdown off of the board for Jaylen Waddle.
On top of that, Eichenberg was struggling to protect Tua Tagovailoa or give much push in the running game.
Miami better hope that Williams is back next week, or they should conisder another option at the position.
