The Miami Dolphins were handed their third loss of the season on Sunday, as they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs 21-14 at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany.
Mike McDaniel’s team was unable to rebound from an early 21-0 hole that they found themselves in before the second half even started.
As we do after every game, let’s take a look at some of those who deserve credit and some who deserve criticism for their performances against the Chiefs.
STUD: RB Raheem Mostert
Miami didn’t overly commit to their rushing attack, as the running backs combined for just 17 carries, but Mostert was effective when he got the ball.
The former Purdue Boilermaker rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on an impressive 7.1 yards per attempt.
DUD: Coaching/IQ
The Dolphins had eight penalties called on them and a number of them were unforced errors. There were other situations where they were forced to call timeouts to keep them from taking a delay-of-game penalty.
This is unacceptable. They need to focus on these small things and eliminate them, as they’ll continue to be issues, especially on the road.
STUD: LB Bradley Chubb
Chubb was causing problems for Kansas City’s offensive line throughout the game, as he finished the day with three tackles, a sack, a tipped pass and a quarterback hit.
Had Miami won the game, he probably would’ve been the player of the game.
DUD: WR Tyreek Hill
It’s tough to ever consider Hill a “dud,” but when grading on his own curve, that’s the type of performance he had on Sunday.
He recorded eight receptions for 62 yards, but he didn’t find the end zone once. He also had two balls go right through his hands and fumbled on a screen pass that was then returned for a touchdown.
STUD: P Jake Bailey
You have to give credit where it’s due when it comes to the punter. Bailey kicked seven times, and four of them were downed inside the 20-yard line. While some of the punts were fielded poorly by the Chiefs, Bailey put the returners in position to make those decisions.
