Studs and duds for Seahawks from their upset win over Eagles

The Seahawks just upset the Eagles on Monday Night Football in one of their most memorable come-back wins of the Pete Carroll era. Trailing 17-13 with two minutes to go from their own eight-yard line, they got a gutsy game-winning drive from Drew Lock – who had struggled the entire game up until that point. Defensively they got just enough from a few key players to come out on top.

Here are our studs ~~and duds~~ for the Seahawks this week.

Stud: DE Leonard Williams

Drew Lock’s clutch antics will get more of the attention, but don’t forget who the best player on the field was for Seattle tonight. Defensive end Leonard Williams continues to pace the Seahawks defense, just as he has in every game since coming over in the trade with the Giants. Williams was extremely disruptive in Phlly’s backfield, posting two tackles for a loss and five total.

Stud: CB Artie Burns

The Seahawks had to change things up on the back end of their defense with Devon Witherspoon and Jamal Adams out. Riq Woolen was benched, too – paving the way for major snaps by Tre Brown, Mike Jackson and Artie Burns, who had a surprisingly strong game in the slot. Burns posted four tackles and one pass breakups.

Stud: RB Ken Walker

After several rough games and a quiet first half, Ken Walker came bursting out of the locker room in the second half and dominated the rest of the game with the exception of the final drive. Walker finished with 86 rushing yards on 19 carries (4.5 yards per attempt) and a touchdown and added another 26 yards as a receiver.

Stud: The offensive line

Perhaps the biggest surprise of this game was the performance of an offensive line that was vastly outmatched on paper. The Seahawks kept Drew Lock clean for most of the game, only allowing two sacks and three QB hits against a vicious Eagles pass rush. They were also dominant in run blocking, especially in the second half.

Stud: WR DK Metcalf

Shut down for most of the game by Philly’s cornerbacks, DK Metcalf finally broke out when it mattered most – making several clutch catches on the game-winning drive. DK caught five of six targets and ended the night with a team-high 78 receiving yards.

Stud: S Julian Love

All of it would have been for naught without two remarkable interceptions made by safety Julian Love in the fourth quarter. Love’s second pick along the sideline was about a 12 on a scale of 1-10 in difficult and sealed the upset for Seattle. He now has a team-high four interceptions on the year.
