Student makes £55k in six weeks after his phone ran out of battery on boozy walk home

We've all been in a situation where we really need our phone but it's run out of battery at the absolute worst moment. That's exactly what happened to Bailey Page, from Queensland, Australia, while he was attempting to order an Uber home from a nightclub.

The next day, the 22-year-old looked online for a cable-free charger that could fit in his pocket but couldn't find one. He then invested all of his savings into developing the Zip Zap charger during his final year of study.

The handy device clips into your pocket, making it ideal to have by your side at all times. And the product has been so popular that the entrepreneur is now making a lot of money.

Bailey sold out his initial stock of 200 within a fortnight in 2021 then sold another 1,500 across his homeland the next month. Within six weeks he'd hit his goal of selling 2,000 chargers in a year.

He wrote on Facebook: "Extremely proud and blessed to announce the offical launch of my new start-up business Zip Zap!! Can’t thank everyone enough for all the love and support you’ve shown over the past week, Im really grateful and truely do appreciate it. Zip Zap is a new innovative cableless portable charger that has a ‘3 in 1’ charging capability for iPhones, AirPods and iPads! It’s the first in the world of its kind and I can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on one. If you’re interested in buying please go to www.zipzapchargers.com or get in contact with me."

And customers seem to be very pleased with the product. One reviewer said: “No cords to worry about. Just plug it into the bottom of your phone and you’re good to go! It doesn’t get in the way of holding the phone either, even when taking calls which is perfect.”

Another wrote: "This is awesome especially if you’re out and about, and you suddenly realise that you’re almost out of charge.”
