Stuart Dallas issues message to thank Leeds United supporters and makes injury vow

Leeds United have been able to count on Stuart Dallas for every single Premier League game since their return to the top division last season. However, the Whites will be without him for the rest of the season and for a 'lengthy period' thereafter.

The Northern Irishman unfortunately sustained a femoral fracture following a collision with Jack Grealish in Leeds' 4-0 loss to Manchester City on Saturday. Dallas has now expressed his gratitude to fans via social media, following an outpouring of affection towards him when news broke of the extent of his injury.

He wrote over two tweets: "Huge thank you for all of the messages I’ve received in the past few days. I’ve had amazing support from across the world of football - but particularly from Leeds and Northern Ireland. I’d also like to thank Dr Williams, Dr Sarraf and the medical team at @LUFC.

"The support I’ve received has meant the world to me and my family. Now it’s time to focus on my rehab, I will be back from this stronger than ever. In the meantime I’ll be supporting my teams every step of the way. #MOT #GAWA"

Dallas' run of league starts actually goes back further than Leeds' promotion, as he has only missed the starting line-up once in three seasons, when he was injured as Leeds faced Blackburn Rovers in the promotion run-in in 2019/20. They will now have to cope without a player who Jesse Marsch has referred to as a standard-setter and a 'big personality on and off the pitch' for the Whites. All involved will hope that when Dallas makes his return to the field, it will be to play for Leeds in the Premier League.
