Stuart Dallas becomes second Leeds United player to earn international call-up

Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas has been named in the latest Northern Ireland squad for the upcoming international break.

The break is set to take place at the end of this month with Leeds ’ trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday their final game ahead of the two-week period of international fixtures.

Dallas is the second player from the Whites to be named in their respective country’s squad, following on from Raphinha, who is again set to represent Brazil in their latest World Cup qualifiers.

The 30-year-old and his Northern Ireland teammates are set to face friendly matches against Luxembourg and Hungary after failing to qualify for the World Cup play-offs.

Dallas has been capped 60 times already by his country and will be hoping to move just one behind Gerry Armstrong in the country’s all time appearance list.

Despite Leeds’ struggles, Dallas has once again been one of the more consistent performers for the club this season, starting all 29 Premier League matches so far.

He has been tasked with playing several positions throughout the campaign, appearing on both sides at full back, as well as in centre midfield.

Dallas hasn’t quite hit the heights he did during his first ever season in the Premier League last term, when he netted eight goals.

Alongside the likes of Steven Davis and Craig Cathcart, Dallas will be one of the more experienced players in the Northern Ireland squad.

Youngsters Paddy Lane and Trai Hume have both been called up to the senior squad for the first time as manager Ian Barraclough looks to blood some youth into his side.
