England cricket ace Stuart Broad is to re-open his fire-ravaged country pub after a £1m refurbishment.
The Tap and Run in Upper Broughton, Notts, was gutted in a blaze caused by a faulty tumble dryer in June last year.
Broad, 35, who took six wickets in the first Ashes Test, owns the pub with former England bowler pal, Harry Gurney, 36.
The pub is now set to re-open on Monday - giving him something to smile about after England’s defeat at Edgbaston.
Business partner Harry, 36, said the thought of sitting in the refurbished pub “gives me a lump in my throat”.
He added: “‘We can’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to rise from the ashes.”
The pub is already taking bookings ahead of the re-opening, one year, two weeks and a day after the inferno.
The England paceman was woken early on the second morning of the second Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge last year by Harry with the news that the pub was ablaze and being tackled by eight fire crews.
