Struggling with long-Covid? Salt therapy could help improve your breathing

Many people across Ireland have been struggling with breathing issues this winter - whether it's a lingering Covid cough or the 'super cold' that they just can't seem to shake.

If you are open to trying an alternative treatment, salt therapy is said to help improve many breathing issues.

Matei's Salt Cave in Castleknock offer salt therapy, otherwise known as Halotherapy, which involves breathing in air filled with tiny salt particles.

It is considered an alternative treatment for those with lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, COPD and hay fever.

It can also be used to help skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema.

When you arrive you will be taken to a spa-like salt room, and there is even a room suitable for children. You are surrounded by calming music and soft lightening, the perfect setting to relax for 45 minutes.

Claudia, the owner of Matei's Salt Cave told Dublin Live: "Lots of people use our salt rooms for relaxation and well being."

In terms of health benefits, Claudia recommends booking a few sessions to see real improvement.

The rooms are open 7 days a week and it is recommended that you book your session in advance.

Matei Salt Cave can be found at Junction 6 in Castleknock. To find out more visit their website here.

Editor's Note: Salt therapy is a complimentary therapy which works alongside medical treatment. If you are suffering from a breathing or skin condition, always seek advice from your doctor.
