Striker of Rangers' rivals on a roll before Europa League tie

Union Saint-Gilloise striker Franjo Ivanovic admits he's on a roll ahead of their Europa League showdown with Rangers after netting 11 goals in his last nine games.

Rangers welcome the Belgians to Ibrox on Thursday for the final game in the group stages and still have an outside chance of reaching automatic qualification if they win and other results go their way.

But they will have to stop in-form Croatian hitman Ivanovic who netted a double at the weekend as USG won their fourth game in a row.

The 22-year-old has scored 17 goals for the season, including four in his last two Europa League games and is optimistic about continuing his run in Glasgow.

He said: "It's good that I have scored a lot of goals recently, but the most important thing is the team and we are very confident at the moment because we are playing well.

"I think the team are in a good place and we go into our next game in Scotland against Rangers with optimism."

And Union boss Sebastien Pocognoli is delighted at the young striker's recent form.

He said: "Franjo is in a good place at the moment.

"He has really kicked on recently and looks like he is going to score in every game.

"The job of me and the staff is to make sure that he keeps his feet on the ground because the head can quickly spin if you are not careful and the Union are a club based on being level-headed and grounded.

"All our games are important at the moment - we absolutely want to achieve our objectives."
