Strictly voting figures demanded by angry viewers after Hamza and Jowita victory in final

Irate Strictly Come Dancing viewers have demanded that the BBC release the voting figures for this year's final, after many hit out at Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal's victory.

Going into the final, Hamza and Jowita and Helen and Gorka were the only couples left not to have landed in the dance-off as former Strictly pro James Jordan predicted a 'two horse race' between the pair and bookies made Hamza their red hot favourite to win. While wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza did live up to his billing as favourite to win, it was outsider Fleur East who actually finished top of the leaderboard, with her and pro partner Vito Coppola getting a near perfect score of 119 out of a possible 120 after their three dances in the final.

Hamza and Jowita actually ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard on 113, but still managed to clinch victory, as the Strictly final result was determined purely on the public vote. And, as well as criticising Strictly bosses decision to open the vote after just one round of dances, rather than waiting until all three had been performed, viewers are now calling for the BBC to break with tradition and reveal the results in full.

The broadcaster's stance to never publish Strictly voting figutes became a big talking point on Twitter in the aftermath of the final, with one critic posting: "@BBC please advise how to apply for the official, so called independently verified voting figures of the Strictly final under the Freedom of Information Act. The 2022 series has been fixed." A second reacted: "I really really really wish BBC would release the voting figures like ITV do. I'd be so intrigued to see how close that vote was."

A third posted: "wish strictly released the voting figures it must of been so close between hamza and helen."
