Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole revealed he’s living in a tent in Spain with his wife and two children.
The 47-year-old, who quit the show in 2018 amid rumours of a feud with judge Shirley Ballas, joked he and his wife made the surprise decision after “drinking gin”, and have embraced the nomadic lifestyle.
The couple - who share daughter Aurelia and son Dante - are waiting for their home in Mallorca to be refurbished, and after a series of mishaps, they ended up living in a bell tent.
Brendan has bought many houses over the years, but despite his plans to renovate them he’s “never gotten around to it”, until now.
And he’s adapted to the “adventurous” lifestyle as he and his family live in a chic bell tent on the grounds of the property, however he’s concerned about the heat on the sun-soaked Spanish island.
“Because we're doing the renovation we actually can't live in the house so the plan is to actually be in a glamping tent on the property which is quite nice although if it gets too hot, which I fear it might be, we may well just come back,” he told The Sun.
Brendan blamed “gin madness” for encouraging him and wife Zoe to decide to take the bell tent over to Mallorca with them, after they lost out on a rental property at the last minute.
“The day before we were getting the flat, we got a phone call saying it had been rented to somebody else for a longer time, so we had to get the bell tent out early and we put it up!” the New Zealand dancer laughed.
Brendan met wife Zoe in 2008, and two years later they tied the knot, with daughter Aurelia arriving in 2012, and son Dante in 2018.
The Dancing on Ice star is looking forward to his tent adventures with his family, and even has a BBQ and solar shower set up, completing his nomadic compound on the property.
However, with reports of a scorching heatwave set to hit Europe over the summer, Brendan said if it becomes “too hot we might come back”.
After quitting Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, the former pro dismissed rumours of a feud with head judge Shirley, and blamed TV bosses for getting rid of him.
“The executives make these decisions on these shows, and I would if it was my show,” he told Lorraine, as he hinted it was his stubbornness that could’ve contributed to his departure.
“I question things if I believe they’re wrong. I do that quite often as you’ve seen throughout the series of Strictly,” Brendan added.
