Strictly spoiler 'mole' issues statement after Anton Du Beke criticism

The man behind the Strictly Come Dancing spoilers said he will continue to leak results despite Anton Du Beke's appeal.

Earlier this week, judge Anton called on the ‘Strictly mole’ to stop spoiling the show results before they are broadcast saying “people don’t want to know”. On Tuesday's Loose Women, Anton was asked by Ruth Langsford about the alleged spoilers, which reveal the celebrity booted off the show prior to it being shown on TV on Sunday night.

Anton said: “It gets on my nerves. Please stop. I don’t know who you are but please stop. Don’t do it. Why would you do it? Nobody knows who it is. The audience, like the people who go to The Mousetrap for example, which has been going for years, we’re all in it together.

"Knowledge is power and all that sort of stuff, everyone has an agreement we won’t say anything, so I don’t know who does it. They call you a spoiler for a reason - because you’re a spoiler. Don’t do it…

"Try to stop spoiling it please, because people don’t want to know.”

However, David Thorp, the man behind the Strictly spoilers, rejected Anton's comments. He told the Mirror : "I am aware of Anton’s comments on Loose Women and I massively respect Anton as a judge and a dancer but I disagree with him on this point.

"As you say, he says people don’t want there to be a spoiler. That couldn’t be further from the truth. My website's success purely is because of demand. Four hundred thousand people viewed my website last weekend which isn’t a small number."

And he continued to say that his reveals can easily be avoided by those who don't want to know the result before it airs. He said: "Yes it’s a spoiler, but I do try and provide that spoiler in response to a demand there is for it.

"I also don’t post the spoiler other than posting a link. People can choose to click on it or not. A lot choose to click on it.

"There are a number of other sources for the spoiler too of which I’m the most visible and get the most attention. If I wasn’t doing it there would be several others taking my place."
