Tony Adams has broken his silence after withdrawing from the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 competition. On Sunday, November 11, the football legend quit the BBC show with an injury after finding himself in the bottom two alongside Tyler West.
The dreaded dance-off, which would have seen Tony and his partner Katya Adams and Tyler and professional dancer Dianne Buswell perform their routines again for the judges, was cancelled. It was then announced that Tony was unable to take part, meaning Tyler was handed a free pass to next week's special edition in Blackpool.
Presenter Tess Daly told viewers at home: "Due to an injury sustained on Saturday night, Tony is unable to take part in the dance-off and has decided to withdraw from the competition. This means there will be no dance-off tonight and Tyler and Dianne are through to Blackpool."

And now Tony has taken to social media to apologise for missing the dance-off and explain he could "no longer ignore medical advice". The 56-year-old shared a lengthy post on Instagram.
It read: "There comes a point when you can no longer ignore medical advice, and very sadly my point came tonight. I’m sorry I couldn’t dance off against my beautiful friend @tylerwestt , but thank you thank you to ALL @bbcstrictly who made this into an unbelievable joyful, tough and exhilirating 8 weeks.
"I will miss you all - an exceptionally kind cast and crew. And just, well I have no words for @katyajones . She is my absolute rock, queen, nemesis, HERO. I love her to bits. Keep dancing. Tomorrow I’ll be getting the leaf blower out and back to normality. With sequins. Now always with sequins. @sixmhs @sportingchanceclinic."
Speaking on Sunday night's results show, Tony said: "I came in here with one message, if you’ve got an issue with mental health then please don’t suffer in silence and reach out for help. Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot about myself in the process. I thought this ‘journey’ rubbish was nonsense, but my God the rollercoaster of emotion.
“I’ve got to be honest, it’s tough, physically it’s really tough out there, but dancing is really fantastic for you. Go out there and enjoy it, and pick up new skills and explore. I suppose I had better mention this one (Katya), hadn’t I? She is an exceptional human being, she really is."
Tony's position in the dance-off came after he failed to impress the judges with a jive to Land Of 1,000 Dances by Wilson Pickett, earning just 24 and bottom place on the leaderboard. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
