Shirley Ballas has issued a dignified, yet defiant response to a troll's call for her to get axed from her job as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing.
Shirley has now headed up the panel on the hit BBC show for five years, having made herself comfortable in the head judge's chair previously occupied by fan favourite Len Goodman. As a former dance world champion, Shirley has all the qualifications and dance pedigree to be a Strictly judge, but that hasn't stopped viewers taking exception to many of her comments and decisions she's made on the show.
It would be fair to say that Shirley is the judge who continues to split opinion the most, with her having to contend with 'sexism' accusations this series, due to her so called 'harsh' treatment of Fleur East, something both she and Fleur herself have dismissed, while others say she favours male celebrities, after her 'easy on the eye' remarks while giving performance critiques.
While Shirley appears on Strictly in front of millions of viewers every weekend, her son Mark does exactly the same earlier in the week in America, as a pro on Dancing With The Stars. And, it was when Shirley was urging US viewers to keep Mark in DWTS that one Twitter user responded to ask: "How do we vote you off?"
Appearing as a guest on Loose Women last week, Shirley admitted she dos read everything sent to her, the good and the bad and, she was quick to reply to the dig. Keeping her cool, Shirley answered: "Hi Tim I’m not sure. But enjoy the show and have a lovely day."
Shirley's Twitter followers were quick to back her, with one replying: ""I honestly don’t get why people do this? I think you’re a lovely judge and think it’s unfair that people troll you for just doing a job. I don’t agree with all the comments that all the judges say mainly Craig but I just say what do I know, I’m not a professional dancer." A second reacted: "What a very rude man… that clearly doesn’t understand the meaning of mental health."
