Strictly's Shirley and Motsi slam Craig and Anton's 'rubbish' claims as judges clash

The Strictly Come Dancing judges clashed hugely on Saturday night, over their thoughts on fan favourite Hamza Yassin.

Hamza and his dance partner Jowita Przystal impressed with their amazing Argentine Tango, but Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke were not entirely sold.

Just moments after Head Judge Shirley Ballas heaped praise on the pairing over their latest performance, Anton was quick to critique parts of the dance.

Shirley appeared to shout the word "rubbish" as she and Motsi Mabuse screamed out in disagreement with Anton's comments.

But Craig soon backed Anton and said he agreed with him, leaving Shirley and Motsi once again outraged.

After Shirley's positive critique and applause, Anton changed the mood as he said: "This was a dance of two halves for me.

"The top half was intense, it was calm, it was strong, it was leading, it was powerful. The bottom half looked like you played centre-forward for Bradford City."

Shirley immediately interrupted amid the boos of the crowd and shouted what sounded like: "What a load of rubbish," while her comments were hard to hear as people screamed over her.

As the screaming continued, Shirley told Anton: "Not at all," as Motsi shouted: "Oh, Anton..."

Anton then got out of his seat to demonstarte what he meant as Shirley said: "No, no," with the audience soon booing loudly.

As Motsi and Shirley joined in with them, Craig soon had his say and agreed with Anton - leaving his co-stars shouting again.

Craig said: "I totally agree with Anton," leading to Shirley shouting out in shock, as Motsi said: "Oh my God."

Judge Craig explained: "His foot should caress the floor, they should pass each other each time and it just didn't. It was extremely messy. I feel like it only concentrated really on the top half."

Motsi hit back at Craig's comments, shouting: "It did," in reference to Hamza's feet.

As it came to the scores, Shirley said: "It can only be a 10," backed by Motsi, while Anton gave him nine points and Craig offered eight points.

Meanwhile, it was revealed earlier this week that Kym Marsh would have to withdraw from Saturday night’s live episode, just weeks before the final.

The BBC confirmed in a statement that Kym had tested positive for coronavirus, so could not perform.

All being well, Kym will be allowed to return next weekend - following the looming next elimination on Sunday night.

The statement read: “Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.

“Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week.”

The news left some viewers calling for a rule change, believing no one should leave in her absence.

One viewer said: "I would rather they kept all couples in this week and had a double elimination the week after. Just to make it fair."

Another said: "This late in the game no, esp since she is at risk, they should just do a double next week."

A third wrote: "What would really be fair is no elimination this week and a double next week"

Strictly Come Dancing airs its result show on Sunday at 6pm on BBC One.
