Strictly's Michelle Visage looks dramatically different in epic throwback

Strictly Come Dancing star Michelle Visage has shared a throwback picture of herself with pals Betty Dee and Cynthia Todino.

The 51-year-old Ru Paul’s Drag Race judge captioned the sepia-toned photo: “Me, @missbettydee and @dreamgirlcynthia back in the heydays! Missing them! Latin freestyle forever! Also, my nails.”

Her extra-long claw-like nails are the highlight of the image, which has been posted to her Instagram .

Michelle, wearing a light coloured top and matching head covering, is seen in the photo with singers Betty Dee and Cynthia Todino, who she has freestyled with at numerous Latin concerts back in the 90s.

The undated photo shows a very young and fresh-faced Michelle, a world away from her current glam look.

Her friend Betty Dee is currently part of freestyle trio Sweet Sensation, while Cynthia performs solo as a freestyle and dance-pop singer.

Michelle’s vocal career began in 1990 after she auditioned and won a place for Seduction, an R&B and dance vocal trio.

Michelle claims she is often mistaken for a man due to her work on RuPaul's Drag Race (ITV/REX)

The group went on to have several hits, but broke up a few years later.

She went on to collaborate with the freestyle dance act TKA as a guest vocalist on the song "Crash (Have Some Fun)”, who her friend Betty continues to work with.

The throwback picture came just hours after the American star revealed that many people think she is a man.

As Michelle is a regular on RuPaul’s Drag Race, fans often mistake her for also being a drag queen.

The mum-of-two says: “People come up to me and say they thought I was a drag queen and I go, ‘Oh thank you’.

“I’m not, obviously. Ru calls me a drag queen, I call myself one. Drag really knows no gender. It’s an honour. It’s an honest mistake too.

“For me it’s the highest compliment.”
