Maisie Smith has declared her love for her new man Max George before he surprised her with something rather unusual. The former EastEnders star has shared how Max "really knows me" and accepts her for who she is.
Actress Maisie, 21, and 34-year-old Max, who shot to fame as part of boyband The Wanted, only went 'Instagram official' with their new romance early last month after rumours swirled about their possible romance. Max posted a sweet message as his new girlfriend made her debut on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4.
Sharing a promotional shot from Celebrity SAS, which began tonight, on his Instagram story Max wrote: "You're my winner already," followed by a love heart. It was also noted that the pair added each other's names to their Instagram bios followed by a red heart. The loved-up couple met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 when Maisie was partnered up with Kevin Clifton and Max was partnered up with Dianne Buswell.

They reportedly grew closer during the Strictly live tour at the beginning of this year when they joined the cast of the 2021 series after last year's tour was cancelled due to Covid. And Maisie wasn't actually supposed to be taking part in the tour but stepped in last-minute to replace TV presenter AJ Odudu, who had suffered a foot injury days before the final of the BBC One dance contest.
"He knows me entirely," Maisie, who played Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders for more than 10 years, told The Sun. "There are no feelings that I’ve kept inside, which is a weight off my shoulders," she said. When asked if she loves him, Maisie smiled before responding: "Yeah, I do," before going on to share how Max is "proud" of her following her stint on Celebrity SAS.
"When he saw the show he was like, 'That’s absolutely brutal'. But he sees my strength, so he said, ‘I knew you could do it,'" she shared with the publication.
And the couple have now proved just how smitten they are as Maisie got Max a gift that means they'll never be apart - sort of. Taking to his Instagram Story on Sunday night (October 16), Max could be seen with his back to the camera as he got ready for the big reveal. He then spun around to reveal a miniature cardboard cut out of Maisie looking glam in a fiery red dress.
Sitting on the sofa filming her man, the former soap star, who is currently on stage in the Craig Revel-Horwood-directed musical Strictly Ballroom, squealed and could be heard saying: "Oh my God", as she took in the unusual sight.
Earlier this month Max was in the crowd to support Maisie alongside documentary Stacey Dooley and plenty of Strictly Come Dancing's professional dancers, both past and present, as Maisie and former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton took to the stage for the press night of Strictly Ballroom.
Taking to Instagram, Maisie shared several photos of herself on stage showing off her incredible dancing skills alongside Kevin. One of the first to comment on the post was Max, 34, who praised her performance and revealed the adorable nickname he has for Maisie. "You're incredible princess," he wrote. Then he took to his own Instagram page to share videos of Maisie and Kevin in action. "That voice," he typed alongside the video.
But he also included a snapshot of a review which read: "Smith's sweet, soulful voice has character but occasionally lacks power." Sharing the video to prove them wrong, Max clapped back: "Lacks power my a**e!!! @maisiesmithofficial you're INSANE!"
