Strictly's Kaye Adams supported by Loose Women co-stars as she jokes they 'put her off'

Kaye Adams was supported by her Loose Women co-stars as she made her Strictly Come Dancing debut tonight.

The presenter appeared with Kai Widdrington on the first live show tonight, where the duo danced a Tango to Voulez-Vouz by ABBA and scored a total of 21. Craig Revel Horwood even said he "really liked it".

Kaye's Loose Women co-stars were there to support her in the audience as Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore both waved at her and congratulated her, with Nadia shouting she was "so proud" of her. Some of her co-stars who weren't present today have starred on the show themselves and had given Kaye lots of support and words of advice.

As they sent their positive messages to Kaye, host Tess Daly asked how she enjoyed having them there. However, Kaye had something savage to say in response - and joked that they were distracting her more than anything.

Kaye has been supported by her Loose Women co-stars after announcing she was on the show.

"Funnily enough they've had such different experiences, interestingly enough. I know it's predictable, but they all say, 'Enjoy it and be yourself.' I know it seems very cliché, but they all say it," she said, "If I don't come out of this saying that I've enjoyed it, that will be the only way that I'll have felt I've lost. I'm not thinking about winning or how far I'm getting."

Kaye announced the exciting news she had joined Strictly whilst on the ITV lunchtime show.

At the time, Nadia admitted she was tearful at her friend signing up for the show, adding: "Is it actually you?” Oh my God, I feel emotional, honestly I can cry. It’s amazing you can do it because let’s face it, you can’t dance, but that’s what we like to see on Strictly - somebody learn to dance. You’re going to be incredible, you’re so funny, you’ve got the best legs in the business."

However, Kaye was less confident about her own performance.

She admitted: "Actually it’s quite funny because I’m terrified, I’m absolutely terrified because as Nadia very kindly says, as a supportive friend does - ‘Let’s face it, you can’t dance’, which is true. It’s true! I’ll be a journey [on the show].

"I’ll be honest with you, I can think of a million reasons not to do this and I can still think of a million reasons not to do this and when these gorgeous dancers came on, I nearly exited from both ends of my body, honestly. Sorry about that! But I thought, ‘Am I going to be thinking at the end of September I wish I’d done this’. I’m 59, 60 at the end of this year and I was like, ‘Well, why not?'"

*Strictly Come Dancing returns live at 6:30pm on Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
