Strictly's Johannes Radebe 'wants love' after 'never giving relationships a chance'

Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer Johannes Radebe has said he's ready to find love and would like to be a father one day.

Johannes, 34, came second in the most recent series of the BBC One Latin and ballroom show with celebrity baker John Whaite, and is now set to tell his incredible life story in his first solo UK tour- Johannes Radebe: Freedom.

In an interview with HELLO! The TV star said: "I've never given relationships a chance."

He went on: "We can't love someone else if we don't love ourselves, but I'm now in a place in my own mind where I can accept love because I know how to give love.

"I'm still waiting for someone to step forward for me and know there are wonderful people out there. And yes, I'd like children one day. Parenthood is a huge responsibility I'd like to share."

The performer, who has competed on Celebrity MasterChef, also revealed he almost gave up his life in the UK to return home to South Africa after three members of his family had died, but his Aunt Martha, who died from Covid-19 last year, influenced him to stay.

Johannes and John, who won Great British Bake Off in 2012, were favourites with Strictly viewers, their romantic rumba leaving viewers in tears. They were the first all-male partnership to participate in Strictly, and lost out to Eastenders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and her partner Giovanni Pernice.

Before the final, when asked what winning would mean, Johannes said: "It would restore my faith in humanity. I’m going deep there because that is what winning would mean. It’s huge, it’s big, but the fact that we’re here says a lot already so I’m so grateful that we did, honestly."

John admitted he was initially nervous about dancing with a man but agreed to it eventually.

He said: "I really wanted Johannes as my partner. In the future it could be two straight men, or a straight man and a gay man. But for the first one it was particularly important to be two gay men, and I know Johannes has tried to implement that change on Strictly."
