Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has been branded "cruel" as she left Vito Coppola devastated live on air.
The former professional dancer was hosting tonight's edition of Strictly: It Takes Two as the next lot of professionals took on this year's special pro challenge. Tonight's turn was to find out how Vito had done, as he was in the studio with Fleur East.
Before he and Fleur chatted with Janette, the focus was on Vito's performance in the pro challenge, as the professional dancers on the show compete against one another in a special yearly competition to break a Guinness World record.
Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood and a Guinness World Record official watched on as Vito gave his all to the challenge, before they crossed back to the studio and Janette gave the verdict on where Vito had placed in the leaderboard.
"Vito I can reveal in 30 seconds you completed 18 steps," she said and Vito was thrilled, holding his head in his hands and jumping with excitement at the news which put him joint top of the leaderboard.
However, after his celebration, she revealed there were "some disqualifications".
"I can reveal that you had five disqualifications which gives you 13th and put's you joint fifth," Janette said, as fans branded her "cruel" and "mean" for building him up and then leaving him "devastated".
"Janette did Vito dirty there #strictly," one fan penned, whilst a second added their thoughts on Twitter : "Oh @JManrara that was so harsh on poor @Vito__Coppola - you even high fived him!! #Strictly #ItTakesTwo."
A third wrote: "That was harsh, poor Vito! #ItTakesTwo #ITT #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing #ProChallenge," with a fourth adding: "Why did they do that to Vito, poor guy got so excited #Strictly."
When the pair were partnered together, Vito promised he'd be a tough teacher.
"Behind this smile I’m very tough but I’m sure that she’s going to be alright because she’s a hard worker too!" he warned Fleur. They have since become great friends and have sailed through to the semi-final, with the final less than two weeks away.
Speaking about their friendship, Fleur said: "He's best friends with my husband so he's not going anywhere. They love each other," as Vito added: "I know that I can count on Fleur, even after Strictly, for anything I need. She also knows that she can call on me any time."
