Strictly's Janette Manrara breaks silence as Aljaz Skorjanec announces he's quit show

Janette Manrara has broken her silence following the news that her husband Aljaž Škorjanec has quit Strictly Come Dancing - less than a year after her own departure.

It was announced this morning that Aljaž, 32, had decided to leave the popular BBC show - with him having appeared as a professional dancer on it for the last nine years.

He teased in a statement on social media that he has "lots of exciting stuff planned" for the future, following his departure from Strictly - which he joined back in 2013.

The news has attracted much attention, with his wife Janette, 38 - whom he met on the show - having now responded to the announcement on Instagram earlier.

Alongside a photo of her husband, whom she has been married to since 2017, she wrote: "I cannot express the sadness in my heart to see [Aljaž] say goodbye to Strictly."

She however said that at the same time "there is so much joy" in her heart for what he has brought to the show - which he won with model Abbey Clancy, 36, in 2013.

Janette continued: "I have admired him from the day I met him for his passion for dancing but more than anything for his kindness towards anyone he encounters."

She said that as his wife and best friend, she "could not be happier to know that he made so many smile" whilst on the show - both viewers and those behind the scenes.

Janette said: "He makes every single person he encounters feel absolutely special; ask any of his partners throughout the years." She said he's what the show is "all about."

Further discussing this, she wrote in the recent post on social media: "[It's] taking someone who wants to learn to dance, and making them truly fall in love with it."

She continued: "All good things come to an end, but with every ending comes new beginnings. I cannot wait for the exciting adventures life will have for him in the future."

The professional dancer said she knows that at the centre of his endeavours will be "kindness and love for whatever he does," with her then thanking fans for supporting him.

"Thank you for giving him all of the love and support you have these past 9 years. And thank you [Aljaž] for always being my biggest inspiration in [...] everything that I do," she said.

Concluding the post, she expressed hope that he would continue to inspire her, adding: "I love you, and you and I will forever 'keep dancing'." This ended with a red heart emoji.

The news of Aljaž's departure comes just weeks after it was confirmed that fellow professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 31, had decided to quit the show after seven years.

And Janette herself announced last year that she had chosen to quit the main show, with her having instead become the presenter of its spin-off series It Takes Two.
