Strictly's Helen Skelton 'vulnerable' while Kaye Adams is 'fish out of water', says expert

Body language expert Judi James has shared her thoughts on what the 2022 Strictly Come Dancing contestant's publicity poses reveal about their chances on the show.

And Judi thinks that Helen Skelton might feel a bit 'vulnerable' to put herself out there after a difficult few months in her personal life.

The Countryfile presenter, 39, is set to show of her dancing skills on the hit BBC dancing competition this month - recently revealing that she only signed up last minute following her shock split with husband, Richie Myler.

The mum-of-three revealed that her decision to appear on the show came close to the end of the revelations, but she said it would have been 'madness' to turn it down.

Sharing her thoughts on Helen's professional pose, body language expert Judi explained: "Helen’s body language suggests a range of strong emotions that might create the magic out there on the dance floor.

"Her dangled leg splay and hand on the hip might suggest confidence but the elbow is pushed back in a self-effacing gesture.

"Her eyes look flirty but her smile makes her look vulnerable, too.

"If she can inject all that into her routines she could be one to watch," she added.

Despite looking somewhat 'vulnerable' in the professional shots, Judi thinks that Helen could be 'the one to watch' and go all the way in the BBC competition.

However, Helen herself is baffled by the favourite odds and compared herself to an 'old trotter' instead.

The TV presenter has been bookies' and fans' favourites ever since the news of her joining the show dropped.

At the end of August, Helen was top of the leader board as bookmaker Coral placed her as 7-2 favourite to win the BBC ballroom competition with fellow competitor Fleur East coming in at a close second.

When asked how she felt about being the favourite star, she recently explained: "I don't know how seeing as nobody's danced.

"There are plenty of people who you think will be good and then they go out first or second. After our first rehearsal, I was like, 'I've just had a really great time.' I don't want to go home first but if I do, I've had a great time."

She also discussed wanting to feel 'elegant' on the dance floor as she never felt that way before. Helen said: "I'm like a Fell pony so I feel like I want to look elegant. I've always felt like an old trotter".

And when it comes to Kaye Adams' pose, body language expert Judi James predicts that the Loose Women star may feel a bit like 'a fish out of water' in the competition.

Kaye, 59, is among the line-up on Strictly Come Dancing this year and has teased that it will be a 'challenge' as it usually takes a few drinks to get her onto a dance floor.

According to body language expert Judi, Kaye may be in need of some Dutch courage before she shows the UK her dancing skills.

"I love the way intellectual Kaye is going for the Strictly sizzle here, and doing a good job, although her subtler signals do suggest a bit of a ‘fish out of water’ thing going on here," Judi explained.

"The leg is revealed although not bent in the way any model would know to do and she seems to be leaning heavily on that guy’s shoulder.

"Will her inhibitions wash away as she steps out on the dance floor? Watch this space, although probably not."

Kaye told Loose Women that signing for Strictly terrified her as she can't dance.

But she's no stranger to TV contests - she took part in Celebrity MasterChef and won Celebrity Mastermind.

The news series of Strictly, which was set to launch on September 17 was postponed due to Queen Elizabeth's death.

The series will officially launch Saturday September 24.
