Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez danced their final routine of Strictly Come Dancing 2022 and the emotional reaction in the studio was overwhelming for all concerned. The TV presenter's dad, Richard, was spotted wiping tears away as his daughter, who joined the show after her husband left her just weeks after she gave birth to their fourth child, wrapped up her three performances in the final with her and Gorka's couple's choice to Mein Herr from Cabaret. The judges were full of praise for the show dance, awarding the pair a full 40 points. Motsi, leading a standing ovation, said: "Well I mean what a night, what night, what a dance. Helen you closed the show girl that was amazing. This number, well it sends a message, what a performer you are. You two are superstars well done."
"Crikey," said Anton. "I have to tell you, the reaction in the room, this is what we aim for. You started off this competition and there wasn't much of a performer in you, you've grown over the weeks. You, my love are a performer and what a performer you are."
Craig chose to make a joke with his final comments, picking on Helen's little finger. "I'm joking," he shouted, saying he had to get a final boo in. "That is a dance that should win a final. That. Is. Incredible."
Helen was cheered as she went up to Claudia's room as she praised Gorka saying he is a credit to his family, Gemma Atkinson and Mia, and the show. Last month, Helen told Closer magazine that her parents have really helped her since her split with Richie Myler. She said: 'My parents are amazing. It's the easiest parenting time of my life because they're on-hand all the time, doing loads for me. I'm pretty sure that grandparents keep this economy running!'
