Strictly's Helen Skelton reveals biggest show hurdle as she praises pro Gorka

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton revealed one key part of the show was a "hurdle" she was struggling to get over.

She revealed on It Takes Two on Thursday that she sought advice from her co-stars, as she got to grips with live performing.

While Helen is used to big challenges and presenting to big audiences, she has never performed like some of her fellow Strictly stars.

Helen confessed to host Janette Manrara that this was the toughest hurdle of doing the series, but said she didn't have the time to get used to it.

Her pro dance partner Gorka Marquez offered his advice, and urged her to believe in herself more ahead of their next routine.

Speaking just days before the next live show, Helen explained: "To me, that whole thing of being on a stage is new so I was asking Jayde [Adams] and Will [Mellor] like, guys how do we do this?

"If you are not a performer, that bit is a bit of a hurdle but there isn't the time to get used to it, so I have just gotta do it."

Gorka then advised: "Just go for it, like you did on Saturday. The most important thing is enjoy it, and have the best time."

He later added to Janette: "Her confidence is not at her highest, so I just want to work on building up her confidence, telling her she's a beautiful dancer, she does it well and I believe in her.

"I know she has potential, I just need her to believe in herself because this goes very quickly, and the quicker she does that the more she's going to enjoy it.

"Just believe in yourself because you work very had and you are doing incredibly."

Helen then praised Gorka, as well as his fiancée Gemma Atkinson, revealing they had been good to her outside of the show.

She told him and Janette: "You are very kind. Everyone gushes about their teacher and says they are amazing, and you are amazing but you and Gemma have both been very kind to me as a friend more than anything else."

Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two airs weeknights at 6:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
