Strictly's Helen Skelton makes admission as Gorka Marquez breaks silence on their 'beautiful' moment

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton made a heartbreaking admission on BBC2 spinoff show It Takes Two on Tuesday night even as pro dance partner Gorka Marquez tried to boost her confidence.

It comes after the pair shared a 'beautiful' moment on Saturday night's live show which saw Gorka stop the show to give her an emotional message of support.

But the Countryfile presenter was still hard on herself as she insisted 'I'm not the best' tonight even after Gorka's kind words.

Helen Skelton said about her paso doble: "I loved it, that was my favourite one. I loved the dance, I loved the outfit, Gorka was speaking Spanish all week. We had a good time. I stood on a box!"

Rylan then asked about Gorka's message of support for Helen, adding: "We've got to mention it because everybody fell in love with you even more on Saturday night, you were chatting away to Claudia and you said to Helen 'I just want you to feel confident about yourself because you are gorgeous, you're this, you're that and you're doing it. Do you think she's finally getting there?"

Gorka then replied: "Obviously the judges said she needs to have more self confidence, I think she had the confidence in the dance, I think looking back it was maybe more of a lack of selling the dance, more than it was a confidence thing. I think she really enjoyed the dance and we had an amazing week but watching the video back today, we both said we could have sold the dance more and I think maybe that was what was missing, not the confidence."

Rylan then said the pair were 10th on the leaderboard with their 6/8/7/8 scores from the judges.

Helen added: "It's nerveracking because I'm having a great time and I don't want to go home but ultimately I'm not the best but I'm trying my best and that's what this is about.

"So I think you (Gorka) give me difficult things to do so I think about that but once I get confident with the steps I will give it a performance as well."

Rylan then asked Helen about the judges comments about the dance being 'too polite' and asked if Helen will continue her 'dirty look' in future dances.

Helen replied: "Absolutely, I spent all day Saturday going 'is this it?' and Gorka's like... no."

Rylan said the public loved it but asked Helen how pleased she was to avoid the dance-off.

She replied: "I never want to be in the dance-off so please don't make that happen, but I did say to Gorka I think I did it better in the rehearsal, so if I have to do it again... I'll give it big licks."

Gorka said: "But remember, she said we hope we never have to do it again please."

Helen and Gorka will be doing a Charleston to the Blue Peter theme next weekend.

Helen added: "I'm really superstitious so when Gorka said 'in a couple of weeks, it's this' I put my fingers in my ears and go 'lalalala I don't want to hear it' but as soon as you mentioned Blue Peter I was like...I want to get that far."

She then joked she has a tattoo of the Blue Peter badge on her chest and Gorka admitted he dressed in blue to go with the Blue Peter theme.

"I loved that show and I went all over the world and did amazing things and already I'm like 'there was this one time where...' to Gorka.

"When you've been a Blue Peter presenter your reference points are so weird. At one point he flipped me upside down and asked if it was too long and I said 'no no no when I was wing walking and I had to hang upside down for training."

Gorka then added: "I think she is the first celebrity partner that I have who is not scared of doing tricks.

"And even today she was doing a trick upside down with her legs on my shoulders and I was just talking to her like normal."
