Strictly's Helen Skelton caught up in ITV chaos as live link abandoned

Helen Skelton was the unfortunate victim of some live TV chaos on Lorraine, as the link she was presenting had to be abandoned, due to a lamb 'chewing' through a cable as cameras rolled.

The saying goes 'never work with children or animals' and Helen is sadly now living proof that that is very much the case, as the Strictly Come Dancing star joined Lorraine guest host Christine Lampard from a sheep shed at Cannon Hal Farm in Yorkshire.

Helen, host of popular Channel 5 series On The Farm, was in her element as she spoke to Christine via a live video link, to talk about lambing season; but things took a turn for the worse when Helen was suddenly unable to hear anything Christine was saying, blaming the loss of sound on one of the lambs in her vicinity biting into a cable.

Alerting the show's host to the technical blunder, Helen said: "I'm not sure if a lamb has chewed my cable but I can't hear a word you're saying." Christine laughed and said: "Can you hear me now Helen? Are the lambs being naughty behind you?"

Christine tried and failed to make contact with Helen as the former Blue Peter sat there in silence, with Christine frantically ending the segment and telling viewers at home: "She's gone. That is what happens when you're live from the farm, isn't it? I think she has. I think she has gone. We will try and get her back, anyway.

"There's a lot going on with Helen on the farm this morning. Hopefully we will be able to get her back and see some lambs on the show later today. Hopefully."

Thankfully for Helen and fans wanting to see more of her, the show did return to her on location at the farm, allowing her to deliver the link as it should been first time round.
