Helen Skelton has been backed by fans over a new TV hosting job that saw her run the risk of having a run-in with ex husband Richie Myler, a year on from their split.
Fresh from winning the Strictly live tour with Kai Widdrington and returning to present BBC daytime show Morning Live earlier this month, former Blue Peter star Helen was back on screen over the weekend to front Channel 4 coverage of the Super League Season, alongside The Last Leg host and comedian Adam Hills.
.However, things were made rather awkward by the fact that Helen was on location at Headingley Stadium, the ground that is home to Richie's club Leeds Rhinos. The former couple made headlines at the start of 2022 after the breakdown of their marriage, shortly after the birthj oif their tyoungster daughter Elsie, with Richie moving on with new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill., who is now expecting his child.
Helen uploaded photos of herself and Adam on the pitch at Headingley on her Instagram and captioned them: "Team work makes the dream work …. Always lovely to catch up with so many old friends" Her followers were quick to react, with one replying: "Helen. You are bigger braver and a class act. Don’t ever forget that. Well done you. Great to have you back" and a second writing: "You you you !! A brave , super woman !! Well done you"
A third commented: "You are inspirational.... down but definitely not out.... go girl."
Having become the nation's sweetheart during her time on Strictly, Helen is being tipped to land a series of high profile TV jobs, including as a presenter of legendary BBC show Countryfile.
