Strictly Come Dancing star Hamza Yassin has opened up on his surprising link to Newcastle, as he remains the favourite to win this year.
Anyone who put a bet on the wildlife cameraman to win at the start of the series stands to win a lot of money as Hamza's winning odds were as high as 25/1 before he'd even set foot in the ballroom. The situation was vey different after the first Strictly live show of the new series, when he and pro partner Jowita Przystal finished joint of the leaderboard with their opening routine.
While there have been a few different couples at the top of the standings in the last few months, Hamza and Jowita have never been far away from the summit and, at the time of writing, they were still the frontrunners for the Glitterball trophy on 1./3. His journey on Strictly wasn't the only topic of discussion when Hamza appeared as a guest on Loose Women.

Geordie star Denise Welch was on the panel as Hamza joined the panel in the studio and kicked off the discussion by remarking: "You also, which I Love, when you left the Sudan, you went to live in Newcastle and you had a Geordie accent for a bit," to which Hamza replied: "I was like ha'way man!"
Going fully Geordie, Denise then told him: "Stick up a rubber nose up ya nose Hamza!" before he added: "I came down south ands everyone started giggling at me for having this Geordie accent and then it quickly shifted to the accent that I have now."
This weekend only six couples will take to the Strictly dancefloor, after Kym Marsh and pro partner Graziano Di Prima were forced out after she tested positive for Covid. Hamza and Jowita will be aiming to get more 10s to add to their tally when they perform a Argentine Tango to Bond's Libertango.
