While many of his Strictly Come Dancing colleagues are now busy rehearsing for the show's live tour, Giovanni Pernice has premiered a new BBC series, with another well known face from the ballroom.
Having won Strictly in 2021 with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, Giovanni returned to the dancefloor last year, but viewers didn't end up seeing too much of him, as the Italian pro and celeb partner, The One Show's Richie Anderson, were voted off after just a few weeks,
After his early exit from the programme, Giovanni also won't be taking part in the Strictly arena tour, which gets going in Birmingham later this month, with his absence from the line-up upsetting fans, when it was announced last month. However, while he won't be on the Strictly tour, Giovanni will be hitting the road with his own Made in Italy tour, with another Strictly pro, Lauren Oakley joining him as his leading lady.
However, it was a very different show that Giovanni was focused on on Thursday night, as he and Strictly judge Anton du Beke debuted their BBC series, Adventures in Sicily, at a packed screening in London.
Giovanni broke news of his and Anton's show at the end of October, sharing a clip on Instagram and writing: "To say this has been a dream project is an understatement! Me and @mrantondubeke are going to be in my much-loved home of Sicily dancing, laughing and having the time of our lives! I cannot wait for viewers in the UK to come on this journey with us. See you in the Sicilian sun in 2023 on @bbc."
Adventures in Sicily will comprise of three 50 minutes episodes and a teaser for it reads: "Giovanni will be Anton’s guide as the pair discover what the sensational Mediterranean island has to offer - exploring everything from breathtaking sights such as Mount Etna and authentic old towns right through to sampling Sicilian cuisine and perhaps even indulging in a tango or two.
"With sun, sea, lots of laughs and plenty of surprises in store as well, Anton and Giovanni promise to give viewers a Mediterranean adventure to remember."
