Giovanni Pernice's Strictly return confirmed for new series after early exit blow and tour 'snub'

Giovanni Pernice will be back on Strictly Come Dancing this year, hoping to bounce back from his early exit last year. But one thing that has been confirmed already, regardless of how he gets on in the new series, is that Giovanni won't be doing the show's live tour for the second year in a row.

One of the most popular pros on the long running BBC programme, having made the final with Georgia May Foote, Debbie McGee and Faye Tozer, Giovanni finally got his hands on the Glitterball trophy, when he triumphed alongside EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis in 2021, with the couple then going onto win all but one show as the cast headed out on the annual arena tour.

A year after his victory with Rose, Giovanni was one half of an all-male partnership on Strictly last year, alongside Radio 2 and One Show host Richie Anderson. However, after a lot of excitement about their partnership, Giovanni and Richie exited the dancefloor after just three performances, being just the second couple to get the boot.

That meant that Giovanni was resigned to playing a 'bit part' in the rest of the series and then didn't take part in the Strictly tour at the start of 2023. While his co-stars were visiting arenas across the UK, Giovanni himself was packing out venues up and down the country on his Made in Italy tour.

And, while he will be taking part in Strictly this year, alongside other returning pros like Jowita Pryztal, Gorka Marquez and Carlos Gu, Giovanni has already announced that, even if he wins the Glitterball, again this year, he won't be doing the tour. And once again, the feason for his absence will be the fact that he is touring with another of his own shows - Let Me Entertain You.
