Strictly Come Dancing star Fleur East could be hindered by her "inner anxiety" as she may "lack natural dance talent", says body language expert Judi James.
The hugely popular BBC One dance competition returned to our screens on Friday night for the launch show, which saw the 15 celebrities find out which professional partner they were paired with. It is a quick turnaround for the celebrities, who will once again get Strictly-fied on Saturday evening for the first live show of the 20th series of the hit show.
Fleur, 34, took to the floor to speak to host Tess Daly as she revealed who her partner will be for the 2022 series and the singer and presenter, who will continue to host The Hits Breakfast Show during her time on Strictly, was clearly nervous about the prospect of dancing on live television.
She said: "Yeah, this is really different. I don't have a mic in my hand here, I can't wing it here, this is completely different.
"I have six alarms set because I snooze all of them so I will be up at 4.30am waking everybody up in the morning and then dancing at night. Queen of naps. I'm used to sleeping in the corner of the living room when my parents were having parties growing up so it's all good, thanks mum!"
Her nervousness was also picked up by body language expert Judi, who added: "Fleur appeared to be the master of body language disguise tonight. Her tentative baby-wave on the stairs and her subdued body language with Tess suggested inner anxiety and a lack of natural dance talent."
Fleur will partner with new professional Vito Coppola and the singer and presenter made and interesting comment regarding the rookie partnership for the flagship BBC show on Saturday evenings.
She told co-host Claudia Winkleman: "Yeah, it's really cool but in some ways I look at Vito and I go 'what's actually happening here?' and he goes 'I don't know!', so great."
However, she did create a rap for her Italian dance partner and the duo already have a team name of "Fleurito", which she coined during her chat with Claudia.
The body expert also believed her loud screams when she was paired with Vito were "odd" but she added "inner anxiety" was dissipated when it came to the group dance finale.
Judi recalled: "Her screams of what were part of a ritual of delighted recognition when Vito arrived to pair off with her were odd as he is another unknown face for Strictly.
"Her thumb-rub ritual hinted a desire to self-comfort thanks to nerves but then out on the floor during the group number she was electric. Fleur was the one you wanted to keep watching, along with Helen and Kym."
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 24 September at 6:45pm on BBC One.
