Anton Du Beke gave a volunteer a day to remember as he arrived on Tyneside on Tuesday to unveil the results of a huge transformation for DIY SOS: The Big Build.
The former Strictly pro turned fan favourite judge was one of a number of well known faces from the hit BBC show on location in Wallsend as a week long project reached its conclusion. Colleagues like Graziano Di Prima, Luba Mushtuk and Katya Jones have all been involved in the Big Build over the last week, as Nick Knowles and his team of volunteers have been kept busy overhauling an unused building to become a new home for North East based charity True Colours Theatre, with him and Katya going to see some of its youngsters in action in a concert at the weekend.
And on Tuesday, it was time for everyone involved with the Theatre to see the fruits of volunteers' labour as Anton arrived just before lunchtime, ahead of the big reveal. And, before getting down to business, he had time for a quick dance with one of the workers, who just so happened to be a massive fan of his.
The unsuspecting fan. a woman named Kiki, chatted to ChronicleLive after her impromptu routine with Anton in front of a crowd of onlookers and told us that dancing with Anton was on her 'bucket list.'
She explained: "I can't believe he was here, I didn't know, there wasn't a crowd as far as I'm concerned, it was amazing." Clearly in complete shock at what happened, Kiki added: "I'm still shaking! He's absolutely incredible and amazing, just fabulous. I'm lost for words, normallyI can talk but that was just a dream come true for me."
