Strictly’s Angela Scanlon reveals why she’s turning her back on fake tan on the BBC series

Strictly Come Dancing star Angela Scanlon has revealed the sweet reason why she's shunned getting a spray tan ahead of her performances on the BBC stalwart.

The Irish presenter explained that she wants to be a positive example for her two daughters and that includes turning her back on the show’s weekly beauty treatment to proudly show off her naturally pale skin.

During an appearance on Thursday's Lorraine with her dance partner Carlos Gu, the 39-year-old first poked fun at her pale complexion, joking: “I am see through, I am almost blue.”

Before sincerely adding: “I have two daughters and I'm telling them to be comfortable in their own skin, so I have to embody that myself.”

The Your Home Made Perfect star previously admitted it's taken her 15 years to accept her complexion, and insisted that “she doesn't need fake tan to feel confident.”

Scanlon recently revealed that she was left “touched” after fans reached out and thanked her for embracing her alabaster complexion on TV.

In September, she told The Sun: “I feel really touched whenI get a message from somebody who says their daughter is suddenly OK with not wearing fake tan because she saw me on the telly with my white legs out.

“I never felt that when I was young. I never saw anyone super pale on telly and, obviously, there's different levels of that across so many minorities.

Adding: “There's been absolutely no pushback from Strictly on it. If you want to wear tan, you wear it. If you don't, you don't.”

The BBC star’s comments come after she and pro partner Carlos scored just 28 points out of 40 for their Viennese Waltz.
