Strictly's Amy Dowden pays tribute to husband on wedding anniversary after cancer diagnosis

Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden thanked her husband as she reminisced about her wedding following her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 32-year-old announced in May she had been diagnosed with the disease after finding a lump in her breast.

Since going public with the devastating news, Amy has kept her social media followers in the loop as she goes through treatment.

On July 2, Amy took to her Instagram to celebrate her and her husband Ben Jones' one-year anniversary with a sweet post.

"One year since our special day with our favourite people," she said.

"What I would do right now to re-live this perfect day. Not the anniversary or year we certainly had planned but I am sure and determined to have many more better ones with you!"

"Thank you for being by my side, spoiling me, being Mr positive when I’m not and choosing to love me!

"Love you always #happyanniversary #ourweddingday #lovealways #hardtimesmakestrongpeople."

A string og fellow Strictly stars wished Amy and Ben a happy one-year anniversary, including Jowita Przystał, Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu.

Athlete Colin Jackson, who attended the ceremony, wrote: "It was a lovely day, and I feel blessed to have shared it with you guys. Happy anniversary, and yes, let’s stay positive."

Earlier this month, Amy revealed surgeons removed two tumours and three further cancer "specks" as well as lymph nodes from her right breast. They have been sent for analysis.

"The cancer is in the lab now, which is the most important thing," she said. "The hardest time was waiting for surgery, thinking ‘I have cancer inside me’.

Speaking to the Mirror, she added: "You’re thinking ‘It’s grade three, what if it’s spreading, what if it spreads tonight?’

"The feeling of it made me feel disgusted, disgusting. That’s the time I was randomly crying, emotional. But we drove away and I thought, ‘It’s gone’. I’m a doer, I feel we have done something."

The Welsh dancer, who is a huge favourite with Strictly fans after joining the BBC One show in 2017, previously said she was "determined" to beat the disease.

"Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I’m determined to get back on that dancefloor before you know it," Amy wrote.
