Amy Dowden has admitted that it feels like she’s in ‘limbo’ now her chemotherapy has ended.
Earlier this month, the 33-year-old Strictly pro, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in May, completed the gruelling treatment.
And on Thursday Dowden, who continues to get regular injections post-chemo, shared a video on her Instagram page of the moment she rang the cancer treatment bell.
“Can’t believe it’s a whole two weeks ago!” she captioned the post. “I’m off to the unit again today for my monthly injection.
“But it does feel strange, as when you’re in chemo cycles there’s such a routine and [at the moment] you feel a little in limbo!
“But still so very proud of this moment!”
This followed Dowden sharing the news just days before the Strictly Blackpool episode that she had fractured her foot, which has ruled her out of competing in this series.
Alongside a snap of her foot strapped up in a boot, she wrote: “Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot.
“Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible.
“This is what has kept me going the past few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!”
She later shared in a clip: “I’ll pop in and see the guys tomorrow, I watched some more dancing, and it’s definitely cheered me up.
“I’ve not smiled since Tuesday and now I’m smiling again. Just watched some wonderful dancing tonight and I’ll continue to do so over the weekend...
“It’s been a rubbish week, but feeling better now,” she concluded.
In July, Dowden underwent a mastectomy and began chemotherapy after doctors discovered more tumours. Ringing the bell marked her final round of treatment.
