Strictly line-up 'confirmed' by fake account as some viewers declare they won't watch new series

A spoof Strictly Come Dancing has had infuriated vipers declaring they “won’t be watching” this year, after it ‘confirmed’ a whole host of social media favourites for the show this year.

Just as the official Strictly account has been drip feeding the stars actually taking part in the new series of the BBC smash hit and British institution, spoof Twitter page Structly Come Dancing, which has the same profile picture and username as the real deal, has been having a lot of fun with its reveals and apparently fooling a number of people in the process.

The Strictly line-up so far includes the likes of Kym Marsh and Will Mellor, with comedian Jayde Adams and swimmer Ellie Simmons added to it over the weekend.

But there’s been a while different array of celebs featured by the spoof account, ranging from X Factor icon Holly Jervis to lockdown sensation Chanel the parrot.

Other stars on Structly’s very diverse line-up (which we would actually love to be true!) include Nighty Night icon Jill Tyrell, Instagram and TikTok drinks expert Danielle Walsh and Big Brother legend Bonnie Holt.

And it is perhaps one the final additions to the line-up which is the most interesting - Rebekah Vardy’s mobile phone.

The reveal read: “ Many of our celebrities have busy lives.. but not many have been thrown into the North Sea AND been the subject of a high profile court battle. A little water damage won’t stop them dancing up a storm.. It's…Rebekah Vardy's Mobile Phone on #Strictly.”

While Twitter users, including Strictly It Takes Two host Rylan Clark have loved the updates, some diehard Strictly fans clearly didn't get the joke, even through the account says that the new series is coming to a channel called BBC Hun.

Underneath the full confirmed joke line-up, one fumed: “ don’t know any of these people are won’t be watching want a refund on my tv licence.”

Despite many others making it clear it was a spoof account, another reacted: “ Really scraping the bottom of the barrel this year… Won’t be watching,” with a third replying: “I hope you’re joking.”

Others argued Structly Come Dancing’s line-up was better than the real one, with one fan tweeting: “Even this line up is more well known than the actual line up. No offence, but Strictly has had it's day. It should have been axed years ago."
