Live TV can mean anything can happen and for Shirley Ballas on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, October 1, it did, with the judge losing concentration and leaving Tess Daly hanging. It was only the second live show of the series, but Shirley hasn't got back into the swing of things quite yet it seems - she's only human.
The 15 Strictly couples took to the dancefloor for their second performances in front of the judges – with their fate in the public’s hands for the first time this year. But, as hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, hit the ballroom floor, they turned to Shirley to get her thoughts on the second live show - only for the star to leave a prolonged awkward pause as if she had zoned out of the live occasion.

Immediately noticing awkward live pause, one fan tweeted: “Yoohoo! Wake up Shirley." A second wrote: “Shirley not sure where she is there," and another said: "Well that wasn’t awkward."
“Shirley’s delayed response is me 24/7,” another fan joked. "Shirley is me when anyone asks me anything in group meetings," a fellow fan chimed.
One savage viewer asked: "Has Shirley been at the sherry?"
It was an episode of ups and downs for the 15 new celebrities as scoreboard leaders from last week, Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin, getting much lower scores for their salsa and jive respectively. Will was visibly gutted by his efforts, apologising to his daughters, while Hamza said he was 'too big' to jive - prompting an outpouring of support from viewers.
Strictly Come Dancing's first results show airs tonight, at 7.30pm on BBC One, when the first celebrity will leave the competition.
