Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly embraced the spooky season on Saturday night as the BBC One ballroom dancing show returned for a Halloween spectacular.
Tess and Claudia Winkleman introduced the Halloween special under the watchful eye of judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
However, as Tess strutted out in an off-the-shoulder slinky black number, Strictly fans were immediately distracted by the star’s choice of footwear.
The host donned a heeled pair of sparkly boots that Strictly fans couldn’t help but think did not go well with her stunning dress.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Who dressed Tess tonight…..great boots, great dress….but together?”
“Tess’ boots do not go with that dress,” another wrote. “Both are separately fabulous but bad together. Although frankly no one can compete with Craig-Morticia.”
“Claudia looks amazing, as usual, Tess doesn't! Love the boots but not with that dress sorry,” a third fan penned.
Another wrote: “Tess's boots do not go with her dress. Girl goes on Drag Race once and gets ideas.”
One other fan savagely concluded: “Who let Tess out in those boots? Like sparkly wellies.”
Ahead of the show, the BBC released a video revealing the contestants' songs and dances for the upcoming Halloween special, with tunes ranging from Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill to the Hocus Pocus hit I Put A Spell on You as well as the Scooby Doo theme.
The sixth week of Strictly again saw the leaderboard shake-up following a number of shock exits so far this series, meaning nobody is safe from elimination as the remaining couples danced live for viewers' votes.
As the remaining Strictly contestants fought to impress the judging panel, Hamza Yassin was the one to watch, as he sat at the top of the leaderboard going into the weekend, followed by Helen Skelton and Fleur East.
This comes after the Strictly dance floor said goodbye to another celebrity last Sunday night, with Jayde Adams losing to Molly Rainford in the dreaded dance-off and becoming the fourth contestant to leave the competition.
* Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
