Strictly Come Dancing fans were left distracted by Shirley Ballas' outfit as the Blackpool special kicked off tonight.
The head judge was joined by her fellow stars - Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke - as the BBC One Latin and ballroom show headed to Blackpool for the first time in three years. As part of the special occasion, all the stars looked super glamorous as they took part in the opening number to celebrate the show's return up north.
The Blackpool week is a key moment for all Strictly contestants, with many wishing to get to this stage. However, moments into the show fans seemed distracted as they noticed Shirley's stunning gold outfit.
"Shirley's come as a Quality Street. #Strictly," one fan penned as they compared her dress to a sweet wrapper, whilst another echoed the sentiment and added: "Shirley has come as a Quality Street tonight. #SCD #Strictly."
A third shared: " #Strictly Shirley looking like a toffee penny wrapper."
"Shirley coming out of the lift looking like she just hopped out of a tub of Quality Street #Strictly," a fourth added.
Whilst some likened her to the popular sweet, others were full of praise for her outfit.
"Shirley is absolutely rocking that dress #StrictlyComeDancing
#Strictly," one fan penned, whilst another added: "I kinda like Shirley's gold frock #strictly." A third added: "Shirley’s entrance, she looks divine! #Strictly."
Before the show, Shirley took to social media to share her incredible outfit with her Twitter followers.
"I’m ready for Blackpool! Tune in now @bbcstrictly. The atmosphere in the ballroom is electric. The couples are so excited to dance on the floor. Please vote for your favourites Xx #Strictly," she shared online.
Strictly Come Dancing returned to Blackpool for a very special show this weekend, three years after the show was last in the northern English city. The coronavirus pandemic had meant that the Strictly stars were unable to make their way up to the iconic ballroom for two series, but now they are finally back in the home of ballroom dancing.
Earlier this year, host Tess Daly explained how much Blackpool meant to them all, joking it was like a "school trip" for all involved.
"I'm thrilled, it's mine and Claudia’s favourite week, bar the final of course. We love it because we feel like we’re on a school trip, we have such a giggle from start to finish, we have fish and chips, we have a bit of a boogie after the show. It's iconic," she shared.
*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
