Strictly fans complain minutes into Halloween week as they 'demand licence fee back'

Strictly Come Dancing fans complained moments into the Halloween show this weekend.

The BBC One Latin and ballroom show returned for its special spook-tacular weekend as the remaining stars lined up to perform their Halloween themed tracks for the sixth week of the competition. As the show started, Tony Adams was first to perform - and just moments into the programme beginning, frustrated viewers took to social media to fume over the show.

Some viewers said Halloween was "ruined" for them, whilst others admitted they were disappointed. They made their feelings clear as they responded to Tony and Katya's dance, as they opened the show.

As part of the Halloween special, Fleur and Vito will do a Salsa to Break My Soul by Beyoncé whilst Kym and Graziano will do a Rumba to Frozen by Madonna. James and Amy are set to do a Charleston to Bumble Bee by LaVern Baker and Ellie and Nikita will perform their Foxtrot to Scooby Doo, Where Are You? by David Mook, Ben Raleigh.

Ellie and Johannes will do their Couple's Choice routine to I Put A Spell On You by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker & Kathy Najimy whilst Helen and Gorka will Foxtrot to Lil' Red Riding Hood by Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs. Hamza and Jowita will Tango to Wicked Game by Chris Isaak whilst Will and Nancy will dance to Mama Told Me Not To Come by Tom Jones and Stereophonics.

Angry fans took to Twitter to fume over the song choices - with some saying they weren't very Halloween-themed.

"What an odd song choice #Strictly #strictly2022 #StrictlyComeDancing," one wrote, as another penned: "This song isn’t spooky! I demand my licence fee back! #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

A third wrote: "If you’re gonna do a theme, at least have songs relating to the theme! #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

"They're scraping the barrel for Hallowe'en-related songs," a fourth added.

After the routines, the judges will give their score out of 40, with a maximum of 10 points each, before the public will be allowed to vote for their favourites. The celebrities will then find out in tomorrow's show - which is filmed later on a Saturday evening - their fate as they bid to make it through to the next week.

*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
