Strictly confirm Tilly Ramsay as contestant as Gordon Ramsay's daughter swaps kitchen for ballroom

Tilly Ramsay will swap the kitchen for the BBC ballroom to be on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Tilly, daughter of famous TV chef Gordon, has become quite a celeb in her own right, amassing a TikTok following of over 9.5 million.

Full name Matilda Elizabeth Ramsay, the 19-year-old, presented Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch on CBBC, which saw her cooking and having adventures along with her family, for which she received three Children’s BAFTA nominations.

In 2017 she published her first cookery book, inspired by the show, titled: Matilda & The Ramsay Bunch: Tilly's Kitchen Takeover and she and her Dad also hosted a regular cooking item on This Morning, Big Chef Little Chef.

Tilly's Strictly appearance was confirmed on Wednesday's This Morning, when the cat was let out of the bag by hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

In her interview with the BBC website about being part of this year's Strictly line-up, Tilly said: "I’m so excited and grateful to be joining the Strictly family! I’m always up for fun new challenges and this will be my biggest adventure yet!

"I’m going to put my heart and soul into this and can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on and show my Dad how it’s really done! Bring on the glitz, glamour and sequins!”

And then, taking to Instagram after her This Morning chat, Tilly wrote: " So excited and grateful to to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing 2021!! This is going to be my biggest challenge yet but I can’t wait to get my dancing shoes on and join the strictly family."

Tilly looks set to be the youngest of Strictly's class of 2021, which saw its number added to when actor Greg Wise was also revealed as a contestant on This Morning.

Other stars taking part this year include McFly's Tom Fletcher, soap actress Katie McGlynn and BBC host Dan Walker.
